Being present on every channel is different from giving each channel a purpose. One might support discovery, another deeper explanation or conversation with an existing community. Define these roles around the brand and audience.

When moving an idea to another channel, reconsider more than dimensions. Think about what the reader already knows, how much attention they can give and their possible next step. The same idea may need a different opening.

Write the role in one sentence

For each channel I complete: “This space exists to help this person with this need.” If every channel receives the same sentence, the roles may be insufficiently defined. Differentiation does not require unrelated subjects; different depths and entry points can serve the same idea.

A personal publication might use social content to introduce a question, a website guide to develop the method and email to offer a curated reading path. That is an example, not a mandatory distribution model.

Create a channel card

Field Decision
Reader In what context do they arrive?
Task What should the content make easier?
Depth How much explanation is needed?
Next step Is the answer complete here or elsewhere?
Capacity Who can maintain the rhythm?

Capacity belongs in the same document. Opening a channel without production resources can quickly create an abandoned storefront. I prefer a manageable set of well-maintained spaces to many channels populated with identical assets.

Adapt to the information need

When extracting a short piece from a guide, select a question that can stand on its own. Taking only a conclusion without its conditions can create an inaccurate generalisation. The adaptation should provide value while leaving a clear route to detail.

Do not assume someone arriving on another channel saw the earlier piece. Restate the necessary context briefly so different entry points can join the same meaningful reading path.

Revisit the role when conditions change

Audience questions, capacity or publication goals can justify a revision. One disappointing result alone may not. First check whether the execution actually fulfilled the role already assigned to the channel.
